Obituary for HOFINGER

Ludwig Hofinger, 74, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday March 27, 2009. He is survived by four daughters, Susie Sanchez (Gilbert), Jenny Price (Janet) of Denver, CO, Elisabeth Hibdon-Hunter (Chris), and Diedre Hofinger (James Copland); brother, Hardi Hofinger; sister, Hannelore Ressler (Horst) of Munich, Germany; grandchildren, Frank (K'ann), Angela, Stephen, Kevin, Ryan, Hannelore, and Gwendolyn; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Renae, Alexandra, and Kaylee. Mr. Hofinger was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Emil Lee. Ludwig was born in Munich, Germany in 1934, and immigrated on a Liberty Ship to Canada in 1954 with $92.00 in his pocket and speaking little English. He chose to become a Uranium Miner in Canada. He then immigrated to Grants, NM in 1962 to work in the Uranium Mines. After a mining accident in 1965, he met and married Emil Lee McNicol who was his nurse. He went on to open one of the first self service car washes in New Mexico in 1966. Ludwig successfully owned and operated Sparkle Carwash and Spray Wash Equipment from 1966 to present. After many years in New Mexico, which he loved, Ludwig became a citizen of the United States in 2004. He will be dearly missed by the family that he was so proud of.
