Mercedes Lopez, a longtime resident of Las Vegas and Albuquerque, passed away surrounded by her niece and her family, Erlinda, Eddie, Martin, and Kevin Lujan on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. She is survived by her brothers, Marcos Ortega of Anton Chico, and Pacomio Ortega and wife, Uta of Las Vegas; granddaughter, Katie; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Phillip and Julia Gonzales and their daughter, Valerie. Mrs. Lopez was preceded in death by her husband, Aladino Lopez and son, Aladino "Dino" Lopez. Mercedes was a long time parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She retired from Lovelace Medical Center. Rosary will be recited, Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Place S.E. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. N.E. Pallbearers will be Phillip Angel, Roman Angel, Phillip Gonzales, Mario Guillen, Elmer Lujan, and Steve Ortega. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edward Lujan, Martine Lujan, Kevin Lujan, Steve Angel, Joseph T. Gonzales, Nicholas R. Gonzales, Louis Gonzales, Manuel Ortega and Patrick Tafoya.
