Joe Nemish, age 90, of Rio Rancho, was born October 9, 1918 in Beccaria, PA. He is one of ten children, five brothers and four sisters. Joe joined the Army in 1936 and served his country for eight years. He is a Pearl Harbor survivor. After returning home, he met and married Ann in 1945. They moved to California, where they made their home. Joe is survived by Ann, his wife of 65 years; one son, Ronald and wife Jodie; one daughter, Shirley Ann and husband Tom; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren. He is a charter member of BPOE Lodge #2358 in Lake Isabella, CA. he was past president of Lake Isabella Chamber of Commerce; life member of VFW Post 7665; life member of the DAV; past president of Pearl Harbor Survivors Chapter #19 of Lake Isabella; member of Knights of Columbus Admiral Callaghan Assembly #7227 Bakersfield Fourth Degree and Color Corps. He was a painting contractor and builder. Joe was a loving husband and father. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., followed by celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. in Rio Rancho with Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Please visit our online guest book for Joe at RememberTheirStory.com French Mortuary 9300 Golf Course Rd.
