Obituary for HUMPHREY

Irene R. Humphrey, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1936, passed away at home on Friday, March 20, 2009 after a short illness. Irene was born on May 11, 1918 to William Trusty and Maudie Jones in Broken Bow, OK. She graduated from Albuquerque High School. She was married to her husband, John Humphrey, in 1940. Mrs. Humphrey enjoyed her home and friends. Her hobbies included art, gardening and shopping. Her grandson, Jeremy, and her great-grandson, Gavin, were the lights of her life. Irene raised her nephew, Roger Coleman, and always had an open door for many in need. She was a retired purchasing agent from the Civil Service and worked for a family business, AAA Coffee Service, for eight years. Mrs. Humphrey was a great real estate investor through her years. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Young and husband David Agee Sr. of Placitas; grandson Jeremy Young; great-grandson Gavin Young; sister Effie Chenoweth all of Albuquerque; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, John "Chester" Humphrey; sons Ronald John Humphrey and Leonard Dale Humphrey; daughter Linda Kay Humphrey; and her nephew Roger Coleman. Services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Friends may visit French Mortuary Monday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
