Obituary for WIELAND

Donald E. Wieland, age 80, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009. He was born in Huron, SD on March 19, 1928, the oldest child of Carl and Esther Wieland. Don is survived by his wife of 33 years, Christina; sons, Scott of Las Cruces and Stuart and wife, Kyra, of Kansas City, MO; daughters, Ann Sinning and husband, Dr. Gary Sinning of Broken Arrow, OK and Amy Clark and husband, Mark of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Krugg and husband, George of Albuquerque. He is also survived by Christina's children. Don was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Mark Wieland. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from South Dakota State University. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force at that time and became a jet pilot in the Korean War. Don was decorated with the Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, Air Medal w/20LC, Distinguished Flying Cross and National Defense Service Medal. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2009, 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
