Jesse Holmes Simms, 81, died March 1, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque after a brief illness, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on July 29, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Lacy and Marcia Holmes Simms, their third and youngest child. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Robert Lacy Simms. Jesse is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marian; sister Ruth Simms Miksovic and brother-in-law John Miksovic; daughter Ruth Ellen Simms and former son-in-law Davis Lee, and son David Louis Simms; three grandchildren, David Louis Simms, Jr., Megan Elizabeth Simms Waldron and husband Jimmy, and Katy Lynn Simms Lee; great-granddaughters Alyssa Jewell Gearlds and Chloe Elizabeth Waldron; and many nieces and nephews. Jesse graduated from Park College and attended Westminster Choir College, and served four years in the United States Air Force. He was a life-long church musician. He worked for the United States Army, retiring as a systems analyst in 1992. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Presbyterian Church, in Jesse's honor. Services have already been held.
