Obituary for SILVA

Agustin Silva, age 86, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 1, 2009. He was born on April 30, 1922 in Albuquerque, NM to the late Eustaquio and Nestora Silva. Agustin graduated from the New Mexico State University and was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, who served his country during World War II. He enjoyed playing a good round of Pool and Cards, he was fondly referred to as a "Pool Shark" because of his skills in the game; he also enjoyed fishing, all sports, and gardening. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Silva; two sisters, Maria Isabel, Mary Elizabeth; and a brother Eustaquio Jr. Agustin is survived by his loving children, Erlinda Sandoval and husband Larry, Velia Silva, Rachel Flores and husband Fred, Agustin Silva Jr., Eustaquio "Tiny" Silva, Michael Silva and wife Faith, and Josef R. Silva; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Sarah Chavez, Juanita Esquibel, Martina Barttlet, Rufina Wilton, Ernestina Huizar, Hope Carrion, Adelina Pino and Albert Silva; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Agustin will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday morning at 9:00 a.m., also at the Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Manuel Flores, Fred Flores, Mike Sandoval, Jaime Silva, Kenny Maestas and Florencio Olguin. Honorary Bearers will be Joe Huizar, Loren Vigil, Larry Paul Sandoval, Phillip Sandoval, Christopher Rodriguez, and Jonas Pichardo.
