Obituary for LACROIX

Edward Ferguson LaCroix, Ph.D. died suddenly at home in Mount Vernon, New York, February 17, 2009. Dr. LaCroix was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin June 30, 1927 to Mabel Ferguson LaCroix and Frederic William LaCroix. He was educated at Milwaukee Country Day School, Riverside High School, Milwaukee, and a graduate of Harvard College, 1948. He served in the US Navy from 1945-1947, and in the Korean War. He was granted a master's degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the University at Albany in 1988. He became a computer programmer for the New York State Department of Health. After his retirement in 1993, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he became very active working with Native American organizations. He was the archivist for the National Indian Youth Council. Dr. LaCroix is survived by his wife, Mina Bauer LaCroix; his sons, Edward Ferguson LaCroix and Andrew Felton Bauer LaCroix; a grandson, James; and by his brother Frederic Skelton LaCroix of Des Moines, Iowa; and three nieces. Burial will be in the spring in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Memorial contributions may be made to: National Indian Youth Council, 318 Elm St., SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
