Obituary for AUBOL

Geneva F. Aubol, 88, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on February 9, 2009. Mrs. Aubol was born August 3, 1920 to William M. and Venona (Cole) Fisher of Spartenburg County, South Carolina. One of her proudest high school achievements was serving as a team captain for the North Carolina High School Women's Championship Basketball team, winning two titles. Upon graduating from high school, she attended nursing school becoming an RN. She met her husband, Waldo F. Aubol, during WWII. Mrs. Aubol worked as a nurse in Dr. Albert Simms' office for twenty years until his retirement. She then worked in Los Lunas, NM, at a State facility that assists adults with severe mental disabilities, for many years. All the while she continued to take care of others by preparing meals for "Friends Feeding Friends." She and her husband were very active in the New Mexico Farm Bureau for over 20 years. Mrs. Aubol was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ever the basketball enthusiast, she was an avid fan of the UNM Lobos and rarely missed a game. She is preceded in death by her husband, Waldo F. Aubol, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her children, David M. Aubol, and his wife, Jane, of Edgewood, NM, Mark T. Aubol of Albuquerque, NM, and Nancy B. Aubol-Hanks and her husband, Jeff; of Bosque Farms, NM; grandchildren, Jasmyn and Taryn Aubol; great-grandchildren, Zane Armstrong and Trinity Geneva Coats; step-grandchildren Chris, Tim, and Stephanie Hanks; and step great-grandchildren Tayden, David, Nicholas, Allison, and Jordan Hanks. A Viewing and Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., in the Palm Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Road NE, with interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE, with Rev. Patricia L. Holman and Rev. Jason W. Korthauer presiding.
