Paul Anthony Martinez, loving son, brother, husband, father, nephew, uncle, grandfather and friend, born on November 29, 1955, was called home by his Heavenly Father on February 2, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father Pete Martinez Sr., brother-in-law Charles Aragon, nephew Jessie Martinez, and Goddaughter Jacqueline Aragon. Paul is survived by his family, sons, Francisco E. Martinez and his wife Nickole, and Angelo T. Martinez and girlfriend Randi Gallegos; his pervious wife and long-time friends Yvette Brock and her husband Dave; and also Josefina Lopez, step-daughter Yvette Lopez, and stepson J.P. Lopez; Goddaughters, Sonia Martinez and Ashley Martinez; and the light of his eyes, his granddaughter, Jerrikah Martinez. Paul is also survived by his mother Dora (Aragon) Martinez; ten brothers and sisters, Patrick Martinez and wife Debbie, Phillip Martinez and wife Lorraine, Peter Martinez, Jo Madeline Montoya, Perry Martinez and wife Margie, Steve Martinez, Mary Ann Olguin, Rita Turner and husband Ruben, Barbara Gallegos and husband Robert, and Benny Martinez. He leaves behind many loving and heartbroken nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom will greatly miss their "Uncle Paul", and many other extended family members and friends. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School having served in the United States Navy. He worked for the City of Albuquerque and City Water Authority and was a member of the Blue Collar Union for 24 years, just recently reaching eligibility for retirement. Paul's aspirations for his retirement were to travel the open road on his motorcycle, take up fishing and just enjoy life with his family and friends. Everyone who was familiar with Paul knew he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Paul had many friends and was a mentor to numerous young people; he also loved politics and a good debate. The love and pride we have for our son and brother Paul will forever remain in our hearts. We will all miss the great conversations we had, your beautiful smile and your loving companionship. May you rest in peace. A rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 816 Broadway Blvd., SE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:30 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Adam Martinez, Peter Martinez, Jr., Peter Martinez, Carlos Aragon, Chicago Joe, and Dave Brock.
