Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday February 06, 2009

Sherman B. Sweet, 82, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Born in Madison, WI, Sherman served in the Army during WWII. After finishing his service, he attended the University of Wisconsin where he received a BBA in accounting in 1948 and a JD in law in 1950. After marrying Marilyn in 1951, they moved to Los Alamos, NM and he began working at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. He served as County Probate Judge in Los Alamos County. He was Accounting Officer at LASL (LANL) from 1960 until his retirement in 1988. Sherman and Marilyn retired to Albuquerque in 1988 so they could travel, and enjoy spending time with family and friends. Sherman was a wonderful, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Truly the rock of our family, his calm and patient manner, his wisdom and warmth, and wry sense of humor were admired by all who knew him. He was always there for all of us. Family was everything to him. As an avid photographer, we were his favorite subjects, as-well-as the New Mexico landscape he so loved. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 57 years; sons, Jeffrey and wife, Sally, Doug and wife, Barb, and daughter, Peggy and husband, David Stroik; grandchildren, Moshe and Cara Sweet, Rivka and Joel Fixler, Aliza, David, Yosef, Brian and Lauren Sweet, Harry and Maddie Stroik; great-grandchildren, Rena and Dovid Sweet; his siblings, Lorraine Borsuk and husband, Jerry, Pesh Siegman and husband, Ronnie; sisters-in-law, Sylvia and Shirley Sweet; brother-in-law, Irv Pittleman and wife, June; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Ida Sweet; and his brothers, Henry and Arthur Sweet; and sister-in-law, Estelle Chapman and husband, Ben. Services will be held Friday, February 6, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd NE, with Rabbi Joseph Black and Cantor Barbara Finn officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Please visit our online guestbook for Sherman at RememberTheirStory.com French 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
