Obituary for WOOD

Ida M. Wood, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009. She was born on December 17, 1916, in Pittsburg, OK, to Edward W. and Ida Lowell Greer. Ida leaves behind two sons, Vern Wood and wife, Sally; Charles E. Wood; and daughter, Sue E. Williams and husband, Thomas V. Williams; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor L. Wood; and daughter-in-law, Marcia L. Wood. Ida was the youngest and only daughter of seven children. She was very active in the United Methodist Church, serving as president as the United Methodist Women's Association of Central United Methodist Church and president of UMW on the state level. Ida has been an active member of Covenant Methodist Church, participating in many different capacities. She particularly loved working with the youth, and she continued to stay in touch with many of them through the years. Ida will be remembered as a woman of faith, love, charity, and joy. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Covenant United Methodist Church, 8510 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 8510 Wyoming Blvd. NE, 87113 (for the children and youth related programs).
