Obituary for BLANCHETTE

Frances R. Blanchette, nee Borek, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for 22 years, died January 12, 2009. Mrs. Blanchette was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, who died in 1975. She is survived by her three children Rosemary Garvey of Westwood, NJ; Frank Blanchette and wife Linda of Daufuskie Island, SC; and Lynne Scott and husband Jack of Albuquerque, NM. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Frances was one of 11 children, and is survived by two sisters and two brothers. A long-time resident of Montclair, NJ and Lake Worth, FL, she and her husband founded the Blanchette Tool & Gage Mfg. Corp. of Clifton, NJ. They were active members of the Upper Montclair Country Club for many years. Following the death of her husband, Frances served as President of the Company until her retirement in 1986. After moving to Albuquerque, Frances served as a docent at the All Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and acquired an extensive collection of Indian Art. She loved to travel, and during her ventures collected local art and craft work. Frances had an early career in weaving and was accomplished in crafts and needlepoint. A Mass was held for the immediate family at St Jude's Catholic Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after cremation at Sunset Memorial Park. In the spring, there will be a Memorial Mass in celebration of her life, followed by the interment of her ashes in the family plot at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair, New Jersey.
