Obituary for VALENZUELA

Elijio M. Valenzuela, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 12, 2009. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Julia G. Valenzuela; and a son Eli G. Valenzuela, Jr. He is survived by his five daughters Annabell V. Leach and husband Dean, Ortencia V. Gallegos and husband Gene, Clara Casiano and husband Ariel, Elena Zamora and husband Jacque and Ester Valenzuela; four sons Jimmy G. Valenzuela, Samuel G. Valenzuela and wife Rachel, Francisco G. Valenzuela and wife Deanna and Lorenzo G. Valenzuela and wife Elizabeth; two sisters Cinderala Cordova and husband Willio, Estefana Sotelo and husband Cheo; three brothers Joe Valenzuela and wife Clara, Daniel Valenzuela and wife Mary, Gonzalo Valenzuela and wife Lillian; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Elijio was a WWII Veteran who served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was wounded on two separate occasions, and was awarded two Purple Heart Medals. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., at the 8th Street Chapel of the Garcia Mortuary. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church located at 1818 Coal Pl., SE on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 15, 2009 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, with final Viewing at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Jimmy G. Valenzuela, Sammy G. Valenzuela, Francisco G. Valenzuela, Lorenzo G. Valenzuela, Alex Valenzuela and Ariel Casiano.
