Carmel Padilla, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on January 11, 2009. Mr. Padilla is survived by his loving wife of sixty three years, Lina Padilla; children, Inez Padilla and Thomas Underwood, Mariano Padilla, Gloria Marcotte and husband, Robert, Annette Padilla, Theresa Rogers and husband, Chuck, Jane Martinez and husband Anthony, Carmel Padilla Jr. and wife Patricia, Steven Sanchez and wife, Sandra, Roy Padilla and wife, Michelle; sister, Theresa Martinez; grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Renee, Leon, Salina, Blaize, Chantel, Carl, Jason, Christina, Mariano Jr., Melissa, Dominic, Gabriel; twenty two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Moya, Jennie Baldonado, Angie Marino, Bennie Sanchez, Shirley Carrillo, Predicanda Padilla, Joe Marino, Carlos Carrillo and Santos Carrillo. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Demecia Padilla; son, Roy; granddaughter, Naomi (Nina); brothers, Julian Padilla, Ralph Padilla, Phil Padilla; sisters, Andrea Chavez, Cleo Garcia, and Celestina Lopez. Mr. Padilla was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the US Army, serving in WWII. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., by the Legion of Mary. Final visitation will be Wednesday, January 14, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Fr. Edmund Sevilla, presider. Interment will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Mariano Padilla Jr., Leon Garcia, Carl Rogers, Jason Sanchez, Blaize Holtz, Dominic Padilla.
