Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 11, 2009

Kathryn "Kitty" Minarsich, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 with her family by her side. Kathryn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill, who now dances with her for eternity. She touched many lives with her giving spirit. People were drawn to her kindness and beautiful smile. Kathryn had moved to Albuquerque in 2002 to be close to her son, Larry and sister, Phyllis and their families. She cherished the precious time she had with her great-niece and great-nephews, as well as the blessing of three great-granddaughters. Her grandchildren feel so blessed to have had the time to love her and laugh with her. Our family has so many wonderful memories and such gratitude for our time with her. Kathryn set an example to all with her ability to love and give to so many. Kathryn was born in Missouri, and soon moved to Des Moines, IA with her mother and her four siblings. When she was a teenage girl, she met the love of her life, Bill. They were married May 4, 1946 and were blessed with two wonderful sons. During their life together they owned the Hubble House Cafe and worked side by side for many years in the food service industry. During her time at Visitation Hot Lunch, she became famous for her hot rolls. Many people have enjoyed her love for baking with gifts of cinnamon rolls, cookies, candies and other tasty treats. Kathryn is survived by her two loving sons, Larry and wife Joy of Albuquerque and David and wife Janice of Des Moines, IA; and daughter-in-law, Carol Sue. Larry and Carol gave Kathryn three grandchildren, Jenny, Jessie and Joey, all of Albuquerque. David and his late wife, Diana, gave Kathryn the gift of her youngest grandson, Danny, who lives in Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by three beautiful great-granddaughters, Mia, Sofia and Sonja; her sister, Phyllis and husband Billy; a brother and his wife, Uncle "G" and Aunt Lou; and brother, Bob. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews. There are so many children, families and friends that have been such a special part of her life. A celebration of Kathryn's life will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Alegria Club House, 901 Cottonwood Circle, Bernalillo 87004. (Call Julie at 771-3367 for directions.) The family will place Kathryn next to Bill at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines at a later date.
