Mahota R. Bowen, 86, a resident of Los Lunas, died Saturday, January 3, 2009. She was born November 10, 1922 in House, NM. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Caruthers; daughter, Betty C. McDaniel; grandson, Travis McDaniel; granddaughter, Angi and her son, Brandon; and brother, V.A. Robertson. At the age of five, the first of 24 nephews and nieces was born. There are many great-nephews and great-nieces, and many great-greats. Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her father, J.A. Robertson; mother, Estella B. Robertson; sisters, Edith R. Beevers, Alma R. Herber, Faye R. Wallace, Lois R. Findley and Algerene R. Krenkel; and brother, J.M. Robertson. On September 7, 1969, Mahota and Herbert J. Bowen were married. The family now includes Leland Bowen, Mary Nell B. Daughtrey, Herb's children; Bryan Bowen and Karen Bowen, Leland's children; Rachel and Kevin Daughtrey, Mary's children. She was also great-grandmother to the children of Bryan, Rachel and Kevin. Services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
