Obituary for FRANKLIN

Sol Franklin Jr., a fifty-five year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday the 13th of December 2008 in Albuquerque. Sol was born to Sol and Lenora Bull Franklin February 8th, 1922 in El Paso, Texas. He married Amelda "Melly" Spikes in 1947 after serving as a gunnery instructor during WWII. Sol is a graduate of the University of Texas and spent his career as a Stock Broker. Sol was a nationally ranked tennis player for many years and past president of the Albuquerque Tennis Club, With Vets doubles partner Reggie Garcia, he was ranked sixth in the nation by the American Lawn Tennis Association. Sol is survived by his loving wife Amelda of sixty-one years of marriage, children Susan Maxberry and her husband Richard of Lawton, OK, April Price of Albuquerque, Tod Franklin and his wife Karen of Dallas, TX, Sister Joanna Dodge of El Paso, TX, sister in law Ann Franklin of Carrolton, TX, Grandchildren Christopher Rockhold of Lawton, OK, Ethan Price of Honolulu, HI, Ryan Price of Phoenix, AZ, Kameron and Logan Franklin both of Dallas, TX. Seven Nieces and Nephews survive as well. Sol will be deeply missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Sol Franklin and Leonora Bull Franklin. Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Friday at Aspen Funeral Alternatives. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Friday the 19th of December 2008 at Aspen Funeral Alternatives with Reverend Lemuel Boyles officiating. Committal services will be 3:00 PM Friday at Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
