Anthony (Tony) M. Velasquez Sr., 75, was born on June 7, 1933 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away after a brief illness, on December 10, 2008 surrounded by his family. Mr. Velasquez is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mrs. Margaret C. Velasquez; his children, Tony Velasquez Jr. and wife, Theresa, Esther Lucero and husband, Ernesto, Dolores Velasquez, Christine Juarez and husband, Pete, Yvonne Cordova and husband, John; his brothers, John Velasquez and wife, Francis, Joe Velasquez and wife, Nancy, Henry Velasquez and wife, Yvette; his grandchildren, Tanya, Dora, Ernesto Jr., Michelle, Desiree Castro and husband, Robert, Joe Velasquez and girlfriend, Erica, Pete Juarez III and wife, Tammy, Antoinette Dominguez and husband, Reynaldo, and John Jr.; great-grandchildren, Amalia, Josh, Julie, Angelica, David, Bryanna, Dominic, Aryana, Janessa and a great-grandson on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Velasquez was preceded in death by his parents, Higino and Rebecca Velasquez; and his son, Joe Velasquez. Mr. Velasquez was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Albert and Leonor Hernandez. Final visitation will be Saturday morning at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father George Pavamkott, presider. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Valesquez, Robert Castro, John Velasquez, Pete Juarez Jr., Pete Juarez III, Roy Gonzales, and Ernesto Lucero Jr. Arrangements by: Gabaldon Mortuary 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW 243-7861
