Obituary for MATUSZESKI

Eleanor Sanchez Matuszeski, 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Monday, December 8, 2008. She is survived by her son, Richard A. Matuszeski and wife Denise of Albuquerque; two grandsons, Ryan Anthony and Russell Aric, both of Albuquerque; sister, Margaret Cafarelli and husband Tony of Tempe, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Matt" Matuszeski; seven brothers and sisters; and her parents. She was the eighth of nine children born to Juan F. and Mariana Miera Sanchez on March 8, 1915 in Lemitar, NM. Eleanor received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of New Mexico. She taught Elementary school for 25 years. Eleanor loved to travel with her husband. When Matt was alive, they loved to socialize and dance at the Elks. She was a very loving and giving person, taking an active interest in her family and friends. Eleanor was a long time member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, helping to establish the elementary school. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Rosary will be recited at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas at Tennessee NE, Thursday, December 11, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Elementary School, 815 Guaymas Place NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
