Obituary for LOVATO

Ernest Moya Lovato, 80, passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving Day. Ernest, a veteran of W.W.II, retired in 1981 from Sandia Laboratories after a career of 31 years. He was a scoutmaster for 21 years and received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He spent his retirement years as a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital where his big heart and his compassion were an inspiration to all. Ernest was a member of American Legion Post 49 and a lifetime member of the VFW and the Military Order of the Cooties. He was preceded in death by his parents Rumaldo and Avarista; his brothers Lloyd, Clyde and Del; and by his son Michael. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Eduvigen; three sons Ernest Jr. (Diane), Herman (Teresa), Steve (Theresa); and two daughters; Priscilla Lovato and Margaret (Brian) O'Grady; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many others who will miss him immensely. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association. A Memorial Mass will take place Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Ghost Church, 833 Arizona SE.
