Judith Lee Righter Modrall (Judy), 69, of Corrales, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008, after a ten year courageous fight against cancer. Judy was born on May 5, 1939, in Jackson, MI. She was raised in Michigan and Illinois, and later went to college at the University of Colorado, in Boulder, CO. She was a teacher for many years and continued that passion with her involvement in adult literacy programs. Judy and her husband, Gordon, of 44 years, were ranchers in Union County, NM, for 25 years. She loved being an avid volunteer in the community through programs such as the Union County Health Fair, adult literacy programs, 4-H, and the Gladstone Extension Club, just to name a few. Judy was very involved with P.E.O., Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, and Read West. Her greatest joys came from helping others, being with her family, walking, and traveling. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Righter; and brother, Michael Righter. Judy is survived by her father, Verne Righter of Arkansas; husband, Gordon; son, David of California; daughter, Lisa Schreifels and her husband, Norm, of Corrales; grandchildren, Kristen and Kali Schreifels; brother, Jim and wife, Pat; sister, Mary and husband, Jon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial Services will be held at the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, 1004 24th St SE, Rio Rancho, 505-892-6664, on December 3, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions be made to: Read West, 2009 Grande Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM, 87124.
