Obituary for CAMPBELL

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday November 30, 2008

Eileen Campbell June 24, 1944 - November 26, 2008. Eileen Campbell was the beautiful bride of Tom Campbell for 42 years. Together they experienced the changing scenes of life in the joyous and fruitful companionship in which the Lord had entrusted to them. Today we rejoice in the knowledge that she has passed the barrier of time as we know it, and is forever at home with the Savior she faithfully served. On November 26, 2008, the day before Thanksgiving, she went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ whom she had been eagerly awaiting. The span of her earthly pilgrimage was 64 years, 5 months, and 2 days. She lived in the gift of life daily, demonstrating the abundance of thankfulness she had for life, family, and friends, and most importantly her salvation. Surviving along with her loving husband, is her cherished daughter, Kelly - Mrs. Ronald Schorr; and two precious grandchildren, Ryan and Alexis Schorr, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Preceding her in death are her parents, Letitia & Harry Greatbatch; and her son, Thomas, whom she is rejoicing with now in heaven. She is also loved and remembered by two brothers, John (Carrie) Greatbatch of Knoxville, Iowa, and Harry (MaryAnn) Greatbatch of Moss Point, Mississippi; three nephews, Billy Greatbatch of Knoxville, Iowa, Harry Greatbatch of Rio Rancho, NM, and Sean Greatbatch of Albuquerque NM; and countless friends. Eileen was born in the Bronx of New York, on June 24, 1944. She and her husband, Tom, picked up their belongings - as well as her New York accent and sense of humor. They moved to Rio Rancho in the summer of 1979, where she became the second hired Rio Rancho city employee; Eileen was the Court Administrator and Alternate Municipal Judge. Eileen acknowledged her need for Jesus Christ and confessed the Lord as her Savior through water baptism. She attended Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho, where all of its members have had the privilege and joy to know Eileen as a woman of deep faith and conviction. She loved her Lord and lived a life of devotion to His work which was the focus of her life. She served faithfully always displaying the Christian graces which today so richly bless our memories. Her heart was filled with love, compassion, and care for the people at Calvary. To many, Eileen was more than a friend; she was a sister in Christ. Eileen Campbell was, is, and always will be a special person. She will be missed but forever remembered as an adoring wife, loving mother, affectionate grandmother, and faithful friend. She is a gift whom we will always be thankful for. "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them" (Revelation 14:13). Eileen until the day we meet again, I thank my God every time I remember you.
