Obituary for VANDENBURG

Katherine Lewis Vandenburg - Born in Kansas City, MO on September 17, 1944, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents Francis A. (Bud) Lewis and Velma Gallagher; and is survived by Patricia Martin-Lewis and husband Bob Martin, Charles W. Lewis and wife Janet Lewis, John F. Lewis and wife. Alexis Lewis, and Susan E. Lewis all of Albuquerque, NM, along with her children David Lewis Vandenburg and Kellyn Suzanne Vandenburg and her very special pet dog Dingo. Katherine attended Highland High School in Albuquerque, NM and the University of New Mexico, graduating with a degree in education from the University of Texas El Paso. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at the University of New Mexico and a sustaining member of the Junior League of El Paso. She was a partner with Komen for the Cure and had been involved with the charitable cancer organization over the past dozen years. She taught third grade elementary and computer skills for grades first through fifth the last four years of her almost twenty year teaching career in teaching in El Paso. She will be missed greatly. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis of the Hill Anglican Church, 6280 Los Robles, with Father Felix Orji officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of Katherine to: Susan G. Komen For The Cure, 1700 Murchison, Suite 207, El Paso, TX 79902 and Animal Rescue League of El Paso, 7256 La Junta Dr., El Paso, TX 79835. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley in Santa Teresa, NM. Services entrusted to Harding-Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home, 320 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79902.
