William L. "Bill" Huddleston, age 82, of Rio Rancho, graduated from this life into eternity with the Lord, Friday, November 14, 2008. Bill was raised in Brownsburg, IN, graduating from Brownsburg High School in 1944. He entered the Army-Air Corps in 1944, serving his country during WWII, Korea, and early Vietnam, retiring from the Air Force in 1966. His second career found him at the Sandia Peak Tramway, from opening day in 1966 until January of 2007. He was a good-will ambassador to the millions of visitors from around the world, who were privileged to ride the world's longest aerial tramway. Bill was a devoted father to his daughter Ann Zerby and her husband Bill; he was a proud grandpa to Benjamin William and Rachel Ann Zerby; and the "grand-dogs" Monk, Annie, Rusty, and Meeko. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Phyllis. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary Westside Location. A Committal Service will be held Monday, December 1, at 10:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors by the US Air Force. It was Bill's fervent desire to see his grandchildren go to college, something he was not able to do, so to that end, in lieu of flowers, should you desire, contributions may be made to his grandchildren's college fund in the name of W.L. Huddleston at Sandia Area Federal Credit Union. Please visit our online guest book for Bill at REMEMBERTHEIRSTORY.COM French 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (505) 897-0300
