James A. Dye, Jr., 83, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. James was born June 25, 1925 the son of James A. and Lillian M. Tucker Dye in Winston Salem, NC. He was raised in North Carolina and Colorado. James entered the United States Navy in 1943, and was discharged in 1946 as a PVT 2nd Class after serving in the Asiatic Pacific region. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason in the Sandoval Lodge #76, and joined the Ballut Abyad Shrine in 1973 and served as President of the Mounted Patrol in 1983, 1993, and 1994. He retired from ABF Freight Lines in 1987. James was married to Betty June Woody on January 5, 1952 in Raton, NM, and they had two daughters, Debra and Michelle. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Mayhew; and three brothers, Jerry, Richard, and Robert Dye. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Debra Dye; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tyler Mayhew; two sisters, Christine Allmer of Colorado, and Shirley Keefer of Oklahoma; also numerous nieces and nephews. The visitation for James will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service and a Masonic Service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln, Rio Rancho. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park with Military Honors presented by the New Mexico Honor Guard.
