Obituary for STARR

Jerry "Luthier" Starr, died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the age of 71. He was born December 24, 1936 in Schofield, WI. The son of the late Leo and Josephine Suchomski, Jerry resided in Albuquerque for the last 40 years. He handcrafted musical instruments for the last 30 years and was an accomplished musician. Jerry was a member of the Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame and was also the original lead guitar player for the country music singer, George Jones. Most recently, Jerry built his own recording studio at his home. He was considered to be a very good friend, honest and caring. He will be dearly missed by everyone who's lived he touched. Jerry's family and friends will especially miss his wonderful voice and guitar playing. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob in 1995; his sister, Mary Ann in 1972; his dad, Leo in 1992 and his mother, Josephine in 2004. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kathy Griego Starr; one son, Jerry Clint Starr (38), both of Albuquerque; three granddaughters, Chantel (12), Lacey (4) and Belle (3); one brother, Ray of Harshaw, WI; one sister, Connie of Mosinee, WI; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Old Town on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt.
