Obituary for HAMPTON

William Wade Hampton, 87, long time resident of Los Alamos, NM and a recent resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away at home in Albuquerque, NM November 4, 2008 surrounded by his family. Wade Hampton was born August 21, 1921 in Palisade, CO. He was raised in Palisade, CO and graduated in 1939 from Palisade High School. He attended Mesa Jr. College in Grand Junction, CO and Colorado A & M in Fort Collins, CO. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Asian Pacific during WWII. He married Mary Cutter in Palisade, CO in 1947. He was employed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture for several years and in October of 1953 the family moved to Los Alamos, NM where he was employed by the Department of Energy and the Atomic Energy Commission in the security field. Wade was a member of the Pajarito Lodge #66 AF & AM for 62 years. He was also a member of other Masonic organizations and the Shriners. He was a long time member of the American Legion Post #90. Wade was one of the original organizers of the Los Alamos B.P.O.E. #2083 (Elks Lodge) and was their 3rd Exalted Ruler. He remained an active member of the lodge for 57 years. Wade loved the outdoors and was a fisherman and a hunter. His outgoing personality and humor will be missed by his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Mary of Albuquerque, NM and his 4 children: daughter-Karen Hampton of Albuquerque, NM, daughter-Rexanne Barrera and husband Ray of Albuquerque, NM, son-Gary Hampton and wife Patty of Los Alamos, grandson Brice Espinoza and wife Natalie and great grandchild-Jacob Dalton Espinoza of Houston, TX, daughter-Diana Wilson and husband Mark and granddaughter Jessica Wilson of Livonia, MI. Wade is also survived by his brother Ernest Hampton and wife Shirley of Great Falls, MO. He is also survived by long time friend, Kathy Ulrich of Albuquerque, NM. At Wade's request, there will be a private memorial for family. Arrangements are in care of RIVERSIDE FUNERAL HOME OF ALBUQUERQUE 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE 764-9663
