Obituary for LUCERO

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday October 29, 2008

ERVINIA On Sunday, October 26, 2008, the Lord's Spirit descended upon Ervinia Lucero, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, bestowing upon her two beautiful golden wings, enabling her to fly away to Heaven to join her husband, Willie; daughter, Lorie; sons, Willie Jr., Johnny Robert; and great-grandson, Luke. Ervinia is survived by son, Ben and wife Wendy; daughter Carolyn and husband Don; daughter, Linda; son, David; grandson, Dax; eight granddaughters, Breyanna, Brooke and husband David, Shannon and husband Wally and their mother, Norma, Michelle, Courtney, Talia and husband Elgie; Reyna and Patricia and their mother, Johanna; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Logan, Liam, Haley and Kameron; one brother; and two sisters. She was born in Cuba, NM on April 10, 1928 to Pedro and Sophia Cebada. She was a self taught, accomplished musician, and it didn't take much prodding to get her to play a polka on her accordion. She loved to dance, and won several dance contests with her husband Willie. But, her favorite pastimes were traveling and her garden. She was always teased that she was born with a green thumb; everything that she touched in life flourished and was beautiful. Mom/Grandma, we love you, and will miss you greatly. Enjoy your flight Home and a fresh cup of coffee with Dad when you arrive. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 30, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary Wyoming Chapel, with Pastor Neil Ortiz officiating. Viewing will take place for one hour prior. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice Foundation, 8300 Constitution NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 (505)559-1133.
