Obituary for GREELEY

Laura Ann Greeley, 87, died peacefully at home, Thursday, September 25, 2008 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born Monday, May 29, 1922 in Roy, NM to the late Euphemia and Ernesto Amador. Laura was the oldest of 12 brothers and sisters and attended school in Bernalillo, NM. She served in the U.S. Army Women's Corp during WWII. For many years she was a licensed cosmetologist and ran numerous beauty salons. After relocating to Gulfport, Mississippi with her beloved husband, Ross Greeley, she was able to achieve her life long dream of opening and running her own salon, "Laura's New Image". Laura is survived by her loving daughter, Peggy Walters, who cared for her diligently all through her illness; two granddaughters, Cheri McQueen, Desiree Vaelei; four great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished, Jordan Vaelei, Ashlynn Bilich, Austin and Chelsie McQueen; five sisters, Viola Folkins, Marie (Ed) Carlton, Adela Amador, Orlina Johnson, Amalia Bridgman and four brothers, Ernest, John, Roger and Sammy Amador. Laura was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ross Malcolm Greeley and two sisters, Rose Jaramillo and Connie Salazar. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE., Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation.
