Obituary for CHRISTENSEN

Robert ("Chris") Lewis Christensen, 82, passed away on May 14, 2008, in Carson City, NV. Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the son of Fred Christensen, a Danish immigrant, and Vera Lewis, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific arena during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire. At the time of Claire's death in 2004, they had been married 52 years. He was a practicing attorney in Albuquerque, and served three terms as Bernalillo County Probate Judge. Upon retiring from the practice of law in 1976, Chris and Claire moved to California, later retiring to Carson City, NV, in 1991 where they were active volunteers in Make-a-Wish of Northern Nevada for a decade. He is survived by sons, Rusty of Medway, MA, and John of Auburn, WA; and daughters, Karen Christensen Huff of Albuquerque, Joann Stoehr of Canby, OR, and Jean Christensen of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lois Martinez in 1977. He will always be remembered as a kind, gentle and laid-back soul and will always be in our hearts. The family will be Celebrating his Life with dinner on Friday night in Old Town, one of Chris and Claire's favorite places on their visits to Albuquerque, on October 3, 2008 and a Memorial on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Heights Christian Church.
