Obituary for SANDOVAL

Alfonso L. Sandoval, age 81, of Alliance, Ohio died September 11, 2008. He was born July 13, 1927 in Denver, CO to the late Jerry and Camilla Sandoval. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII, Korean War, and as a civilian advisor in Vietnam. He was employed as an electronics technician, Chemical Engineering Dept., New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Rosemarie Ludwig Scheuring, whom he married October 21, 1972 in Albuquerque, NM. Children include Laurine Fern (Michael) of Flower Mound, TX; Judy Shelley (Tom) of Amarillo, TX; Diana (Steve) McGinnis of Waterford, MI; Juanita Sanders (Jimmie) of Azle, TX; Michele Poitras (fiance John) of Albuquerque, NM; Jimmy Sandoval (Randa) of Gainesville, FL; Laura Brinson (Jeff) of Parker, CO; Maria Ankeny (Kenny) of Albuquerque, NM, and special Granddaughter of the heart, Christina (Tina) Giles of Lawton, OK. Also surviving are four brothers, Jerry, Paul, Joe and Richard Sandoval of Denver, CO; two sisters, Mary Baldini of Baton Rouge, LA and Bernadette Fulton of Thornton, CO; 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his son John Raymond Sandoval; and sisters Frances Sandoval and Adeline Gutierrez of Denver, CO. Per his request, Cremation has taken place followed by Burial at Sea with full military honors. Final disposition will be performed on a US Naval ship in the South Pacific. A private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas-Stark and Carroll Counties, 3611 Whipple Avenue, Canton, OH 44718.
