Obituary for BATTEN

Jane Batten, born in Bryn Mawr, PA, and a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, passed away on September 11, 2008 in her chapel residence. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry A. Batten, who was of American Indian heritage. She is survived by one sister, Loren Batten; and one cousin, Gerald Batten; and many close friends and as well as Joseph, her loving dog. Jane graduated from The Shipley School, in Bryn Mawr, Bryn Mawr College, and the Correctional Training School of the Public Service Institute of Pennsylvania. She attended the University of New Mexico Law School. She enjoyed her aviary with fancy poultry, gardening, and her livestock. Her annual Christmas Eve open house was the highlight of each year for those lucky enough to be invited. She was a long time preservationist of Historic North Valley properties in Albuquerque. The Viewing will be held in her chapel residence from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2008. A Service of Remembrance will begin at 11 a.m., followed by Burial at Sunset Memorial Park. There will be a reception at Jane's chapel at 2 p.m. in celebration of Jane's life.
