Obituary for MIRABAL

Joe E. Mirabal, 83, a native of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully Monday, September 1, 2008. He is survived by his children, John and Stan Mirabal and wife, Mary; step-children, LeRoy Barncastle, of Santa Barbara, CA, Irene Cox, and husband, Miller Dean, Lorraine Verhest and husband, Joe; daughter-in-law, Pam Barncastle; sister, Emma Alderette; grandchildren, Darren, Desiree, Denise, John, Frank, Michelle, Alicia, Lynn, John, Marlene, Christopher, Tami, David, Darren, Dean, Deanne, Desiree; 24 great-grandchildren; and several other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Adeline "Lena" Mirabal; stepson, Rudolph Barncastle; sister, Erlinda Aragon; and brother, Odelio Mirabal. Joe dedicated 31 years of service to the gas company of New Mexico and retired August 1986. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Joe was a Navy veteran of World War II from March '43 to April '46. He loved sports and cars, and he played semi-pro baseball. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 11, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
