Obituary for BENJAMIN

Marc L Benjamin, Jr, Lt. Col. Ret., 70, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008. He was born November 21, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas to Dorothy Fretzs-Benjamin and Marc L Benjamin, Sr. He was a graduate of Wichita High School East and the University of New Mexico – Albuquerque. He received his commission from the US Air Force December 14, 1959 and retired January 31, 1985. He was instrumental in the development of the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, a Division Of Parks and Recreation. He also served there as Cemetery Sexton before retiring following 10 years of service with the state. Survivors include his wife and high school sweetheart, Patricia Lynne Benjamin of Colorado Springs; daughters, Valery Benjamin, Alison Benjamin-Jennings, Diana Saunders, Vicki Clemons, and Brooke Benjamin-Baker; sons, Norman Booker and Kenneth Booker. He was known as Grandpa; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His parents and his son, Sgt. Bryan Benjamin, preceded him in death. Military honors will be performed Thursday, September 11th at 9:00 a.m. at the Air Force Academy Community Center Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association. His family would like to thank the Penrose Community Hospital in Colorado Springs, the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and all of our friends for their prayers and support.
