Obituary for MOYE

Donald E. Moye passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008. Don was born January 21, 1914 on a farm southeast of Paradise, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Edna Moye; his only brother, Robert Moye; and his loving wife of 62 years, Madonna Martha Moye. The Moye family moved to California in 1926. Don graduated from Alhambra High School in 1932, where he was active in the student council, debate team and played basketball. His fondest memories were of his high School years. Don worked as a lobster fisherman before moving to Denver taking a job with the Grazing Service as a clerk. In 1936, he moved to Albuquerque and was employed by the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Revenue, Internal Revenue Service and Tempte Brothers Trailers. In 1940, he married the former Madonna Martha Priesthoff. He would always laugh and say he chased her until she caught him. In 1954, he established the accounting practice of Don Moye & Associates. Don was a Registered Public Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant. He retired from his accounting practice at the age of 84. He loved to travel throughout the United States and Mexico, was an avid reader and enjoyed New Mexico and American history. He was a member of Elks Lodge 461, New Mexico Society of Public Accountants, and the National Society of Accountants. For many years, he was active in the New Mexico Republican Party. Don lived a long and full life and he will be missed. He is survived by his three sons: J. Robert Moye and wife Betty Ann of Seattle, WA, William J. Moye and wife Laurie, J. Michael Moye and wife Carol of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Scott Moye and wife Lynley of Albuquerque, Bryan Moye and wife Marguerite of Redondo Beach, CA, Paul Moye and wife Sarah of Seattle, WA, Jason Moye and wife Claire of Hiawatha, KS; and great grandchildren: Devyn, Lindsay, Stephen, Dylan, Zachary, Alexandra, Lauren, Sydnee, Max and William as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 7, 2008, at 4:00 p.m., Salazar & Sons Chapel.
