Ramona C. Ortiz, a lifelong resident of Carnuel, NM, was born July 20, 1947. Our loving and generous daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Ramona was a woman of tremendous faith. She was always positive and continuously cared for others, despite her own health conditions. Ramona was a very religious woman and a longtime member of Holy Child Catholic Church, where she proudly served on the Women's Guild and where she and her husband Frank served as Mayordomo's at Santo Nino in Carnuel for three years. Ramona will be remembered for her love of animals, her love of laughter and her love of her family, which she cherished every moment with. She retired from Bernalillo County on Friday, August 29, 2008 after 25 years of service. Ramona will be truly missed. She is survived by her parents, Adelicio and Erlinda Herrera; her loving husband of 40 years, Frank Ortiz of the family home in Carnuel; three children, Frances Gurule and her husband David, Arnold Ortiz and his wife Penny of Albuquerque; Sarah Condit and her husband Kevin all of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Gabriol, Adrian and Tyler; one grandchild on the way; two brothers, Anselmo and Gerald Herrera; three sisters, Mary Padilla, Catalina Baca and Irene Herrera; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Services and visitation will be held at Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras. The visitation will begin on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 6:30 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Canon de Carnuel Cemetery in Carnuel.
