Delfin R. (Pinky) Herrera, age 75, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at his home with his loving family besides him on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. He was born on August 18, 1933 in Manzano, NM to Zenon and Mercedes Herrera. He married Dulcinea "Candie" Zamora on August 27, 1955 in Manzano, NM. Mr. Herrera was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Labor Union Local #16, Iron Workers Union Local #495 and the Knights of Columbus #4227. He also had been a member of the Senior Center on 4th St. NW since 1997. Delfin is survived by his wife, Candie, of 53 years of Albuquerque; his children, Viola Trujillo and her husband Andy, Ruben Herrera and his wife Lisa, Lorenz Herrera and his companion Joy, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Michael & Marissa Trujillo, Alicia, Angelina and Anthony Herrera; his sisters, Eloisa Luna, Delfinia Dominguez, Esther Saavedra, Anna Jensen, Peggy Ortiz, Lupe Montoya, Gabie Vega and Sally Carrillo; brothers, Gavino, Juan Jose, Ramon, Abe and Marc Herrera; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Grabielita Herrera; and his brother Samuel Herrera. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday September 5, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary Service will be recited Thursday September 4, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., also at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation with the family will precede the rosary service at 6:00 p.m. The Pallbearers will be Julian Zamora, Jimmy Herrera, Michael Trujillo, Eleno Zamora, Michael Bachicha, Paul Herrera, Alicia Herrera, and Lydia Duran. Honorary Pallbearers are Bano Vega, Ralph DeLaO, Paul Padilla, Eddie Bachicha, Anthony Luna, Pat Montoya, Donna Gonzales, and Niels Jensen Jr. For those that desire, memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3411 Candelaria Rd NE, Suite-M, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
