Obituary for CORDELL

William Glenn Cordell, age 91, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008 on the birthdate of his beloved wife, Erba Marian Lee Cordell, who preceded him in death in 1996. Glenn is survived by his two daughters, Karen L. Cordell Booker and her husband, Wayne of Albuquerque and Linda L. Cordell Shay and her husband, Marc, of Silver City; two brothers, Carl Cordell of Chelsea, MI and George Cordell of Hixson, TN; four grandchildren, Terry and Sean Booker and Andrea and Nathaniel Shay and Nathaniel's wife, Amber. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Tray, Jadin, Nina Ross, and Thea Booker, and Keziah and Rain Shendo. Glenn served in WWII as a staff sergeant in the 42nd Service Squadron, 329th Service Group of the Army Air Corps in the Burma-China-India campaign in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged in October, 1945 and married his wife, Erba, on Christmas Day, 1945. They moved to Albuquerque in early 1946, where they enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Erba's death. He attended UNM on the GI Bill, receiving his B.A. degree in 1953, and his M.A. in education administration in 1954. Glenn, better known as Bill to his friends at work, served as manager of the V.A. Federal Credit Union for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1984. Friends and family are invited to attend a Graveside Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Sandia Memorial Park Cemetery at 9500 San Pedro NE. The service will be conducted by The Rev. Roger Weber of St. Mark's-on- the- Mesa Episcopal Church. Arrangements made by Fairview Memorial Parks, 700 Yale SE, Albuquerque, NM 87119.
