John W. Schuler fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the age of 65. He was born in Des Plaines, IL and moved to Las Vegas, NM at an early age. After high school John served his country from 1960-1966 in the US Navy on the USS Providence. He graduated from Highlands University with a degree in electronics. John moved to Albuquerque and then to Corrales, NM where he volunteered in the fire department and served as Fire Chief. He enjoyed hunting, reading, cooking, model trains, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a proud member of the NRA and the Knights of Columbus. His love of family and friends was only exceeded by his love of God. He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church. John is survived by his wife, Eva, son Brian and wife, Melissa Schuler; daughter Deanna and husband Michael Clifford; son Paul and wife Kerry Kearney; grandchildren, Jacob, Cole, John Lewis, Grace, Stella and James. John is also survived by his sister Mary and her husband David, along with nieces Diane and Susann, nephew Michael and their families. Friends may visit on Monday, August 25, 2008 from 5:00 pm. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church 1837 Alvarado Drive NE. Parastas, a prayer service, will be Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church, 1837 Alvarado Drive, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
