Obituary for ASKEW

Travis J. Sr. born September 4, 1921 and passed away on August 23, 2008. He is survived by his six children, Travis Askew, Jr. and wife, Dawnelle of Albuquerque, Carol Sawyer, and husband, Michael of Los Lunas, Sharon Aragon and husband, Robert of Albuquerque, Elizabeth Hanold and husband, Claus of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Gregory Askew of St. Helens, Oregon, Dr. Crystal Askew of Fort Collins, Colorado, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleda in 1991 and his brother, Lennis. He was born in Turkey, Texas to the late Ashby and Ethel Askew. He served his country in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific Theater. He worked for over 30 years for Duke City Lumber Company and retired in 1985. He enjoyed staying physically fit by walking and gardening, and he loved handicapping the horse races. He was loved and will be missed by his family and all who knew him. A funeral service will be held for Travis on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary-University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd., NE. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Claus Hanold, Robert Aragon, James Lopez, Daniel Gallegos, Randy Askew and Bud Propper.
