Neilan Arthur Reams, 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 10 in his Albuquerque home. Born November 9, 1925 in Sioux City, IA, Neil was preceded in death by his wife, Glenys Isaacs Reams. He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Cavender and her husband, Nick, of Spokane, WA; and Susan Clees and her husband, John, of Olympia, WA. He is also survived by three stepchildren, Debra Halberg and her husband, Brad, of Wasilla, AK; Andrew Smith and his wife, June, of Albuquerque, and David Smith of Albuquerque. He was "Papa Neil" to eleven grandchildren: Angelynn, Calli, Tina, Ryan, Ashley, Courtney, Cassandra, Alexandria, David Jr., Logan and London; and to six great grandchildren: Jared, Riley, Jaden, Cody, Josh and Chloe. Neil grew up in Washington state and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 as a Machinist's Mate Third Class. He then made his career as an accountant for Hoffman Construction. Neil and Glenys moved to Albuquerque in 1994 to be closer to family. They managed a local storage facility until their retirement in 2005. Neilan was loved by many and will be missed by all, especially his faithful dog, Foxy. A remembrance will be held Saturday, August 30 - contact David Smith, 505-263-3901.
