Obituary for PAPPAS

Stavroula (Voula) N. Pappas, 87, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008. She was born in Kalamata, Greece in 1920, was married in 1936 and followed her husband to Atlanta, GA. In 1948, the family moved to Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Logothetis of Albuquerque, and Antoinette Pappas of Rosamond, CA; sons, George Pappas and Dean Pappas; brothers, Pete Argyres and George Argyres; sister, Angeliki Katsaros all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, John Logothetis, Nick Logothetis, George Piches, Melanie Pappas, Anastasia Estocin, Shawn Paterniti and Cecilia Skalski; ten great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives in Greece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nikita G. Pappas and daughter, Mary N. Piches. Voula loved to discuss history, philosophy, and nature as well as garden, raise beautiful roses, fruits and vegetables, bake and cook. She was a sweet lady whose wisdom and optimism touched all who met her. One of the many ways she demonstrated her love of the Church was as a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at St. George Greek Orthodox Church for over 50 years and for several of those years served as its President. Trisagion services will be held Friday, August 22, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High St SE. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High SE. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd SE. Pallbearers will be George Piches, Louie Katsaros, Dino Argyres, Dean Argyres, Nick Logothetis, Jeff Stevens, Joe Skalski, and Shawn Paterniti.
