Obituary for CORLIS

Gaylord "Corky" Corlis, passed away in Albuquerque, on Wednesday August 13, 2008 following a short illness. Gaylord was born on September 4, 1921 in Craig, CO. Following World War II, Gaylord worked with his father, JD Corlis, who established Corlis Construction Company in 1933, until taking over the business in 1947. He married the former Helen Ream on February 14, 1956, and they were together for 30 years until her passing in May of 1986. Gaylord was minister of the First Church of Religious Science, where Helen served as the Director of Music and Organist. Gaylord was a highly decorated Boeing B-17 Bomber pilot during World War II, having flown many missions over Europe, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is survived by his recent wife the former Jung Kyung Sook; his sister Myrna and husband Vernon Ness of San Jose, CA; son Brad Corlis and wife Janet; son Terryl; daughter Capri Smith and husband JD Smith; grandsons Lance, JD, and Ryan and wife Lesley; and great-grandsons Tyler and Conner. Services will be held at 6:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living Church located at 2801 Louisiana Boulevard NE, officiated by Reverend Pollard.
