Sophie Padilla, 83, went to be with the Lord, August 11, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William Padilla; children, William Daniel Padilla Jr, David Lee Padilla and wife, Josephine, Jeffrey Blas Padilla and wife, Debbie Lucia and Sandra Lynn Gurule and husband, Mark; ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ida Richmond of Arizona; and numerous other family and friends. Mrs. Padilla was preceded in death by her parents, Blas C. and Eloisa Gutierrez; and her brothers, Manuel and Blas. Sophie, a devoted wife and mother, was a lifelong member of El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was very active with the United Methodist Women. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening, sewing, and especially traveling. Sophie and William lived in Germany, Japan, and numerous cities throughout the United States while William served in the US Army. Services will be Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 14, 2008, 10:00 a.m., at El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM with Burial following at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit El Buen Samaritano on, Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
