Obituary for STEVENS

Mark J. Stevens, age 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, died July 26, 2008. He was born July 5, 1925, in Bancroft, Idaho. He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. In 1946 he married Ruth Jones of Blackfoot, Idaho. He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs until his retirement in 1984. He was a life-long member of the LDS Church, attending the Haines Ward. He enjoyed working as a volunteer librarian at the LDS Family History Center, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and playing golf. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son Kent Stevens and daughter-in-law Georgia; son Robert Stevens and partner Ron Grinage; daughter Stephanie Mitchell; daughter Carol Franks and son-in-law Bruce Franks; grandchildren Caroline Stevens, Julia (Stevens) Pickett, Christie (Mitchell) Black, Bradley Mitchell, Shannon (Franks) Lee, Allison Franks, and Jill Franks; and great-grandchildren Cameron Lee, Landon Pickett, and Shane Pickett. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Haines Street Chapel at 5709 Haines NE, in Albuquerque on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. A private Interment at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe will take place the following day. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sunrise Assisted Living Center and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care and kind support.
