Obituary for MAESTAS

Natividad Steven Maestas, "Tibe", age 80, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, after a short battle with cancer. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, Steven was born in Las Vegas, NM, December 10, 1927. Steven honorably served in the U.S. Army and in the US Air Force. His interests were varied, and his primary career was as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tomasita; his father, Pedro Maestas; his wife, Aurelia Benavidez; as well as his younger brother, Cruz. Steven is survived by his sister, Sofie Zamora of Sparks, NV; his brother, Joe of Santa Fe, NM; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends who loved him and will miss him very much. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese Catholic Church, 4th and Mildred NW., on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. A joint Memorial Service will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe for Steven and Aurelia later in the summer. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice. The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at Ladera Nursing Home, Ambercare Hospice, Manuelita Santiago, Mary and Pete Maestas, and all of the family members and friends who have been so kind during this difficult time.
