Brenda Kay Watley Mathis, 58, after a long illness went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Lou Edith Watley. She is survived by six siblings; Billy Watley and wife, Lequita of Columbus, Georgia, Bobby Watley and wife, Shirley of Klamath Falls, OR, Dottie Watley Hatchell and husband, Mike of Albuquerque, Linda Watley Sanders and husband, Richard of Smith Station, AL, Allan Watley of Pittsview, AL, Gloria Watley Steinhausen and husband, Dick of Phenix City, AL: seven nieces, eight nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews; and her loving dog, Gus. Brenda, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1982, was a native of Columbus, GA. She graduated from Baker High School, and received her undergraduate degree from Columbus State University. After receiving her Master's Degree from the University of GA, Summa Cum Laude, she moved to Albuquerque to accept a position with the State of New Mexico as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, where she was recognized for her high standard of achievement in providing counseling services to her clients. She ended her working career at Goodwill Industries of New Mexico, where she tested and diagnosed others with disabilities. Memorial Services will be held, Sunday, July 20, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at Heights Christian Church, 6935 Comanche Rd. NE.
