Obituary for SCHLEGEL

Jacqueline "Jackie" Schlegel, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Jackie was born on July 26, 1928 in Chicago, IL. She was a member of The Cathedral Church of St. John in Albuquerque. Jackie was a longtime Administrative Assistant at the University of New Mexico in the Fine Arts and Honors Programs. She contributed to many charities and organizations, including the NM Symphony Orchestra and the Albuquerque Zoo, and enjoyed travel, the arts and more than anything else spending time with her family and many friends. Jackie is survived by her husband of 38 years, Don Schlegel of Albuquerque; children, John Schlegel and wife, Jill, of Santa Rosa, CA, Robyn Schlegel and husband, John Casto, of Albuquerque, Marny Whiteaker and husband, Ralph, of Albuquerque, and Kip Schlegel and wife, Whitney, of Bloomington, IN; daughter-in-law Laura Coker, of Studio City, CA; nine grandchildren, Keri Rutledge and husband Russ, Paul, Amina, Corey, Jonathan, Bree, Zachary, Miranda, and Sarah; one great-grandchild, DaiShawn; sister, Jane Matteson, of Baltimore, MD; and Carl and Sharon Coker and their daughter, Vanessa Arrieta. Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Eleanor Matteson, and two children, Blair Leigh Coker and David Leigh Coker. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 AM at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver Avenue SW, Albuquerque.
