Merita Louise Brown Thompson Kenyon, age 80 passed away Monday, June 9, 2008. Merita was born to Thomas C. and Mable (Cupp) Brown of Woodstock, Richland County, WI on March 10, 1928. Merita's early home consisted of her parents, brother T. Justin Brown, and a foster sister Louise McDermott (Peggy). She married Melvin Eugene Thompson of Lenora, Iowa, and he passed away in June of 1974 from cancer. After a period of years, Merita married Harvey C. Kenyon. He was not doing well with Wisconsin winters. The couple moved to New Mexico to find the climate the doctors felt would be right for him. After a number of years, Merita developed serious blood pressure problems and was told she could no longer live at the altitude of New Mexico. Being Harvey was no longer able to work, the couple returned to Wisconsin. Harvey passed away from heart problems in August of 1995. Although being left with no immediate family, Merita found support and encouragement from her church family, close friends and extended family. In addition to her husbands and daughter, Merita was preceded in death by her brother T. Justin Brown; and her foster sister Louise "Peggy" McDermott. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Pastor Chuck Hayes will officiate and Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery.
